This is unbelievable. The commercial for Lyric brand hearing aids does NOT HAVE CORRECTLY FUNCTIONING CLOSED CAPTIONING! I was at the gym and all of the tvs were displaying closed captioning. When the ad for Lyric hearing aids came on - a product for the hearing impaired - the closed captioning did not work!
Lyric, you should be ashamed of yourselves. The words appearing on the screen were something like “Oo da da foo fee.” Really, Lyric? And it’s not the network. I know that each advertiser pays for their own CC. The CC on the network programming worked fine. And the CC on other ads was flawless OR nonexistent (shame on them, too!). But yours was completely haywire.
As someone with a hearing impaired uncle, it makes me angry that advertisers have not fixed this simple glitch. Don’t you want to reach a larger audience? Besides, CC is ALSO used by hearing viewers, at gyms, airports, and doctors’ offices. Wake up, advertisers!
Lyric, you’re selling to hearing impaired people. How do you expect to reach your consumers if they can’t hear your ad, AND they can’t read it? You just paid who knows how much for a commercial that will literally yield zero return.
Can you hear me now?
